LEARN PRINCIPLES AND YOU CAN DEVISE YOUR OWN METHODS—IT’S HEALTHY!

Many people focus on improving their health but become overly concerned with familiar points that are appearance focused.  For example:
  • Go on a diet to get skinny.
  • Go to the gym to lose weight.
  • Take a vitamin (perceived to be a form of nutrition) so I can still eat whatever I want.
  • Use a supplement to enhance my looks or help my body perform better.

Countless numbers of people approach their personal wellness issues from the standpoint of wanting to find a quick-fix yet this does very little for one’s body for the long run.  Does this sound familiar?  Many of us have been here.  In my work as a health coach, I’ve connected with clients who are hurting emotionally as well as physically and just want it to stop!  I often hear “Just tell me what to do, or what to eat”.  Sadly, many have already had their bodies deteriorate to the point of requiring medical attention by the time they are reaching out for help.

Once entered into today’s medical healthcare system, most people find their symptoms are diagnosed, categorized and they’re next referred to a specialist.  It’s off to see a cardiologist, or endocrinologist, or gastroenterologist, or neurologist, etc., etc.   Management of symptoms via drug therapies and surgeries prevail—putting out fires sort-of-speak—and have become the mainstream centers of focus in modern medical care versus the root causation of maladies and preventative care.

The fact of the matter is that we live in a world that doesn’t always support our body’s cellular health.  For example, not eating the freshest and most nutritious food or not getting enough sleep, relaxation or exercise because we’re overworked in our jobs, etc.  So, we must learn to support ourselves--each one of us commanding charge of our own body, mind, spirit and soul.

The miraculous human body functions every second to keep you alive—it works non stop 24-hours a day / 7-days a week from your day of birth to your date of expiration!

Just focus your thinking for a few moments on how vital your personal body is to your existence and you can’t help but marvel at its absolute power.  Now realize that you are solely in control of this immense power!  Every decision you make affects the health of your body—a fascinating ecosystem operating therein that never shuts down as it carries you over your lifetime.

Your body is home to living organisms—trillions of cells that sustain your being.  Cells makeup the chemistry that is your body and they’ll take care of you, if you take care of them!  Just like loving and caring for all of the important people in your life, these living cells require your attention and devotion because they comprise your body—the vessel of your life!

Many years ago, I ran across this simple mind-altering principle that triggered a desire in me to research and learn more about the human body--how it works and what it needs--to better manage my personal health:

If you learn methods, you’ll be tied to your methods, but if you learn principles you can devise your own methods.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I had developed some unhealthy habits over the years, yet, stayed well enough that I did not put much thought into how my behaviors were affecting my long-term health.  I was too busy for such worry and felt fine.  It was a wake-up call when symptoms and ailments started developing that jolted me into clearer awareness of my habits that were not serving me.

I started learning how to make better choices to improve my health.  I decided that the only way my body can function optimally, is if I understand what my body requires and must have me provide in order to function optimally.   I asked questions and began to think about body-health less from an outward focus and more from an inward focus.  Like me, at that time in my life, most people are not doing all they can do to take care of their body because they don’t think about health from the cellular level.  It may sound complicated, but it really is not difficult to understand the basic needs of your body’s cells—even having basic cellular knowledge can change how you approach maintaining your health in the future.  It sure works for me now.

Malfunctioning cells are behind every ailment, illness, and disease.  To me, that’s a key body-health principle that I learned to be aware of first and foremost. When cells are properly cared for, the body is capable to move and function with ease and can be free of debilitating pain, or disease—ruling out injuries, of course.  A body in this kind of shape allows for a healthier mind that can be used to fully explore and grow the nature of one’s personal spirit and soul.

With a healthy body, individuals are better able to enjoy a fulfilling journey through life with loved-ones, friends and contribute to others.  By learning about and focusing on body-health principles, every one of us can completely devise our own methods of thinking, eating, moving (exercise), resting (sleep) and relaxing.  It is the most enduring way to feel better and look better too.

If I had not transformed my own actions, the ailments that had started to develop when I was less concerned about my body’s health could’ve morphed into a serious illness.  If I had not changed my behaviors, I was in-store for getting more of the same bodily decline and could’ve easily wound-up in my doctor’s office for symptomatic treatments, pharmaceutical prescriptions, or perhaps even surgeries well into my future.  That’s simply a scenario I did not want to imagine happening and it drove me to take-action!

Is the state of your health thriving or simply surviving?  Ask yourself these few questions and use your answers to choose health and begin to move in a direction that will help you reach your goals:

  1. Do I experience any symptoms—my body’s way of signaling the state of my health?
  2. Are my daily habits creating greater health and vibrancy, or do I live in a state of survival and on an accelerated path to illness or disease?
  3. Is my health declining or improving each day?

To achieve the degree of health you desire, make it your number one interest to care for and nurture your own body in a way that helps it do its job!  There’s no other way but by you!
